A long-time Alaskan bear hunting, fishing, and raft guide, Alex now resides in Alabama with his wife and children. His love for exploring biodiverse forest , beaches, and watersheds led him to fall in love with "America's Amazon" and the natural beauty that Alabama has to offer.
Bringing his extensive guide experience and enthusiasm for the outdoors, Alex founded Float Alabama in 2022. Through Float Alabama, he aims to share his love for the rivers of Alabama with more people and provide them with unforgettable experiences in the state's stunning waterways.
Robin Simms is a seasoned river guide with experience navigating the waters of Colorado, Alaska, and Alberta, Canada. Born and raised along the banks of Alabama's Tallapoosa and Chattahoochee rivers, Robin spent her childhood catching fish and chasing wild adventures. After 15 years of commercially guiding rivers out west, she returned to Alabama to be close to family and to nurture her children's love and appreciation for the rivers and wildlife of the region.
With a deep passion for the outdoors, fly fishing, and guiding, Robin is actively involved in various non-profit organizations such as Mayfly Project, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, The OARS Foundation, and the Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama. Her dedication to conservation and mentoring the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts shines through in her work, making her a true asset to the outdoor community.
